With 2018 now behind us, it’s time to look back on some of the blockbusters that kept us going to the movies every weekend. We had a lot of movies that surprised us last year.

They lifted our spirits and they brought us to tears. We start deep in the Hundred Acre Wood, with our dear old friend Winnie the Pooh in Christopher Robin

Christopher Robin is a grown man with a family and responsibilities, having completely lost his sense of imagination.

He is reunited with his old stuffed bear, Winnie the Pooh, for another adventure to reignite the child inside.

A charming and heart-warming story about imagination, Christopher Robin may not break new grounds with its story, but is nevertheless a fun and wholesome family movie.

Searching, starring John Cho of Harold and Kumar fame, is the story of a man trying to find his missing daughter.

While on its own the premise may seem rather ordinary or even cliché, what makes Searching different is the fact that the film takes place almost entirely on smartphones and computer screens.

The father must search through his daughter’s social media and internet history to find and save her.

No highly specialized killing machines, no ex-special agents, just an ordinary man doing the best he can to find his child.

A surprisingly engaging thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat for the entirety of its duration, Searching is a fresh and exciting take on a genre with a generally tried and tested format.

Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut, A Star is Born is another remake of the 1937 film of the same name.

Starring Bradley Cooper himself, along with Lady Gaga, the story follows a famous musician with a crippling alcohol addiction, who falls in love with a young singer.

A critically acclaimed film with amazing performances from all the actors involved, A Star is Born has everything, from drama, to romance, moments of levity, as well as hard-hitting moments.

With a Golden Globe win for Best Original Song and possible Oscar nominations on the horizon,if you’re one for award shows, this is a movie to look out for.

Freddie Mercury is a legend who are cemented himself in the annals of music history. His life’s story has always been the subject of great interest, and in Bohemian Rhapsody, we get a look into the life of one of rock’s most iconic personalities.

Though criticized for apparent historical inaccuracies in his story or in the portrayal of some events, the movie has also been heavily praised, even winning the Golden Globes for Best Motion Picture – Drama, with Rami Malek winning Best Actor – Drama, for his performance as the Queen frontman.

If you love music in general, and especially if you’re a fan of Queen, this is a definite must-watch.

And that’s all for today! I hope you enjoyed the show, and I’ll see you in the next episode!
